Pet Writing

My pet writing career began in 2014 when Catster.com published my first freelance piece, a first person essay prompted by my kitty, Ghost Cat, and her urinary issues.

Since then my family has grown to include another cat, Specter, and a duo of dogs, GhostBuster and Marshmallow. The four of them are collectively known as @ghostpets on Instagram, and have inspired many personal essays for pet publications.

My own pets aren’t the only subject I write about. From November 2014 until April 2017 I wrote Dogster.com’s Monday Miracle series, interviewing pet parents and animal rescues about dogs who had overcome great challenges.

Since 2014 I’ve contributed  original reporting, rescue pet profiles, product reviews, and celebrity interviews to Dogster and Catster, and my work has also appeared on Lucky Puppy, DogTime, Sniff & Barkens, the Petco Community blog and The Dodo.

In May 2017 I was honoured to receive two Certificates of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association for my 2016 articles, 5 Father’s Day Gifts from My Unemployed, Moneyless Cats,” and Senior Rescued Cat Saved Her Diabetic Human.

I’ve been a regular columnist for Dogster’s print magazine since it’s launch in 2015, and have contributed several celebrity profiles to the magazine in addition to my column, Bark Out Loud.

In 2017 I launched my pet ghostwriting service, biography.pet, and a podcast, Pets From The Internet.
